Synopsis of Blood of the Prodigal from the publisher -
"In the wooded Amish hill country, a professor at a small college, a local pastor, and the county sheriff are the only ones among the mainstream, or "English," who possess the instincts and skills to work the cases that impact all county residents, no matter their code of conduct or religious creed. When an Amish boy is kidnapped, a bishop, fearful for the safety of his followers, plunges three outsides into the traditionally closed society of the "Plain Ones."

I read mysteries because I find them both entertaining and a good "workout" for my brain.
ReplyDeleteI like to read mysteries because you don't always see what's coming. With romance and such you pretty much know is going to happen. That is rarely the case with mysteries!
ReplyDeleteNot eligible to win, but wow!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very interesting book!
Thanks for the rec/review and good luck to everyone entering! XD
I love mysteries! I like to see if I can recognize the clues the author leaves and then, put them together and figure out who did what and why. So far, the authors are a lot smarter than I am, but that does not stop me from reading them! And that is why I read mysteries.

Gosh I hope I am the lucky one and get these books. THANKS.
ReplyDeleteI read mysteries because they make me think - I feel like I am mentally running after the killer myself, in order to get to the end. It's thrilling! IN a nutshell - they're fun, and that's why I read them.

I read mysteries because to me it's like a puzzle. I like to put all the pieces together and see if I can come up with the same ending as the author.

I love mysteries because I get really involved. I try to figure out who did and why, am hoping that the hero or heroine doesn't get hurt and I feel like I am there participating.

I love mysteries..but the reason why depends on why I'm reading. If bored and want a quick pick me up then a cozy for me..if I need my brain to wake up and think..then a more heavy handed serious one (think Kellerman, etc)...if I need a good dose of shake me up...then I read..well, whatever I want! I love a good mystery!

Oooooo...mysteries...they keep you up at night and if they don't keep you up, they wake you up and make you grab the book to find out "who done it."
ReplyDeleteI love mysteries that have a lot of twists and turns and then when you are done twisting and turning through the possibilities, you find out you have been wrong all along. :)
THANKS for the giveaway.

I read mysteries because they are truly the ultimate in escapism. I get to take a mental walk away from my day-to-day and safely enjoy a little mind game. I have always enjoyed a little danger and intrigue, but I have also always has a protective family. Mysteries are the way to go. Thanks for the chance.

i read them because they transfix me into a realm of intrigue thanks for the giveaway minsthins at optonline dot net
ReplyDeleteMysteries are the only books that I read. I have always been fascinated with the "who done it" aspect, the process of elimation throughout the book and that the good guy always wins. Sometimes I figure them out but sometimes I don't and that is the ultimate read when that happens.
ReplyDeleteI read mysteries because they are such an escape into a world that I hope to never experience or be part of
